Amy Langston is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner that treats adolescents and adults. She completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Houston receiving her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She continued her undergraduate studies at Texas Woman’s University receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then pursued her graduate degree obtaining her Masters in Nursing with a focus in Psychiatry from The University of Texas.
Before transitioning into advanced practice, Amy was a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse, that had the privilege of working at several prestigious psychiatric hospitals in a variety of settings. In both her academic and professional life, she strives to deliver comprehensive evidence-based mental health and wellness services. As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she aims to provide holistic care, taking into consideration the psychological, social, biological, and cultural needs of each individual patient. This biopsychosocial approach works to help her identify and remedy core issues that may be negatively impacting her patients’ relationships, mind, or body. Drawing on her strengths and utilizing an interdisciplinary clinical team approach, she diligently strives to improve her patient’s satisfaction and clinical outcomes. She has clinical experience with dual diagnosis and places a strong emphasis on interventions through not only psychopharmacology but also psychotherapy. She is devoted to caring for her patients with dignity, compassion, respect, and professionalism. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, addiction, mood disorders, and insomnia.
In her free time, Amy enjoys her role as a volunteer and board member for the Texas Prader-Willi Association. She advocates for patients with Prader-Willi Syndrome while helping disseminate up to date research and spread awareness of rare diseases. She also looks forward to spending time with her family and friends, working out, and traveling to tropical destinations.
