Sara Sala

Dr. Sara Sala is an adult psychiatrist from Connecticut and is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Sala completed her undergraduate education in Physiology and Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT and earned her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, CT. While in medical school she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Connecticut State Medical Society Professionalism Award. She completed her adult psychiatric residency at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT, one of the first mental health centers in the United States, founded in 1822. As a resident, she was awarded the Joelle Pauporte outstanding psychiatric resident award.

Dr Sala previously worked at a hospital based outpatient program where she developed her treatment plans using evidence based approaches in young adult and adult patients coping with conditions ranging from anxiety and mood disorders to psychosis. Dr. Sala believes that every patient has unique experiences that shape them and their treatment plan must be as unique and individualized. She focuses on diagnosing and using all the tools available to ensure patients have the supportive care they deserve.

Psychotherapy treatments may include supportive, brief psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy combined with biochemically focused medication management.
