I truly love psychiatry, and I hold three mental health related science degrees. I have a background that includes research experience which has enabled me to cultivate the use of objective data and self reported outcomes. The patient and I craft a unique path to wellness by examining the patient’s response to their treatment. I am well-trained in not only adult psychiatry, but also child and adolescent psychiatry. This population experiences the first symptoms of mental illness that may induce later disorder. I am prepared to serve this population as well as adults to provide an adequate sensitivity to the patient experience throughout the lifespan.
My practice style focuses on use of the latest evidence-based research to approach psychiatric treatment regimens, and I combine this with regular therapy. I use all tools that are relevant and available to provide interdisciplinary management so that clients can attain their own self directed goals for well being.
On the first visit I will conduct a thorough psychiatric and physical assessment, including history. We will then formulate a plan consisting of the patient’s goals, connecting with a therapist, and medications as necessary. I will educate the patient on possible diagnoses, medication risks vs. benefits, and behavioral approaches to modify symptoms. At each follow up visit we will use standardized scales, self-rating measures, journaling, therapists notes, and patient insight concerning their response to treatment to formulate the next steps in achieving your goals toward a balanced, fulfilled approach to life.
